ABOUT CLAUDIA

Claudia Blom (1976) was born and raised in The Hague and has since lived in different places in the Netherlands and abroad for many years. She settled in Almere with her family in 2020 and opened her studio here at Ateliers de Steiger 206. A space she shares with co-artist Mike Graman.

"Ever since early childhood I was always creative. Though many of my studies had to do with art and art history, I did not receive formal training until later in life, when I started at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Here I learned both classical and modern drawing and painting techniques, and Color Theory and Design. For over 12 years I lived in the United States and the Middle East, where I worked on various projects, commissions, and exhibitions. As head of the arts at Lolo's Studio in New Orleans, I also discovered a great enthusiasm for teaching and organising workshops and events.

Being able to do all of this in my own studio space is a dream come true. It's wonderful to be able to collaborate with other artists and also to host workshops or fun group events. I love teaching and guiding others in their artistic journey. My versatility in techniques and materials comes in handy here. I often work on commission, but I also enjoy making what I feel like at that moment. Expressive-refined, abstract-realistic, pencil - paint. It's all fun!"
